Why We Can't Stay Away from Pinetop
"For years, our family has packed up the car to escape the desert heat and head straight up the mountain. There is nothing in Arizona quite like the feeling of watching the outside thermometer drop 30 degrees as you crest the Mogollon Rim into the cool, fragrant ponderosa pines at 7,200 feet.
We are outdoors people through and through. We love getting out into the mountains and hitting the trails—whether it’s a shaded morning hike on Springs Trail #633 or walking the shoreline paths at Woodland Lake Park. When we’re not hiking, you’ll find us throwing discs at the 18-hole courses at Woodland Lake and Show Low City Park, or teeing off on the lush green fairways at Bison Golf Club.
And the food scene up here is pure mountain comfort: starting the day with Darbi's Café giant cinnamon rolls or fresh morning pastries at The Bistro at Annie’s, grabbing barbecue at Grumpy Jake's or loaded mac & cheese at Moose Henri's, enjoying craft pints on the pine patio at Pinetop Brewing or lawn games at The House Yard Bar, and wrapping up the night with prime rib and horseshoe pits at Charlie Clark's Orchard or authentic Mexican at Los Corrales. This blog is our love letter to Pinetop—we hope it guides your best mountain trip yet!"
